Catching up

Sorry I haven’t posted anything on here, but we’ve been a little busy in Bossier for the last couple of weeks.
Speaking of Bossier, the people of the Haughton/Princeton area never fail to disappoint, as reported by The Norla Blog and As Seen in Shreveport.
The Opinionated Catholic has a story about two boys in Memphis who were burned in a house fire, one died and one is in critical condition. Read what their aunt had to say. You won’t believe this one.
As always, Pat is keeping us current on national politics, particularly an interesting race in New York’s 23rd House District.
There are plenty more good blog posts up this week, hit the blogs on the sidebar and catch up if you have missed them.

Battle of the Blogs in Central Louisiana

I am proud to say that despite very disparate views on the issues, I have never seen personal attacks and name calling among our Shreveport/Bossier blogs.
In Alexandria, however, a different situation has emerged. Ed Hooper, who publishes the blog wesawthat has been sued by Greg Aymond of Central La Politics. (Copy of the suit is here).
Greg and Ed Hooper (wesawthat) have been engaged in a war of words for quite a while. CenLamar has been peripherally involved, having been taken to task by both wesawthat and Central La Politics. It has been my impression that Lamar and Drew at CenLamar have taken a more reasoned and less inflamatory approach than either Aymond or Hooper; it is a ‘scorched earth’ policy between these two.
I link all of these blogs, as well as would-be peacemaker Alex Cenla's Rants & Ravings, and read them daily.
I hope they can somehow resolve their differences in an amicable manner.

Today's blogs

Chris Redford of KTBS has written a very moving blog post about Clay Barnard, the 13 year old who was killed while trying to save a little dog. If you haven’t read it yet, do so.
Opining Online is opining about the loony left meeting the deranged right.
The Opinionated Catholic has an opinion about the evil devious dirty Hawaii Football team coming to Louisiana Tech.
My Bossier is, as usual, keeping everyone up to date with the frolicking Haughton/Princeton trailer trash crowd. Today it’s a guy who claims he bit himself- on the face.
The Norla Blog has a good write-up about a local school principal who was arrested for DWI – after he threw a beer bottle out of his car and hit the Benton Police Chief’s personal vehicle.
North Louisiana bloggers are blogging every day – don’t miss out!

A snapshot of North Louisiana Blogs today

And So it Goes in Shreveport and The Opinionated Catholic are writing about President Obama, um, stretching the truth in a couple of instances.
Alexandyr Kent, however, is speaking nothing but the truth.

Trudeau is blogging about a local artist who has a unique idea about turning ashes into money.

The Upside of Downs just celebrated Riley’s 4th birthday. Check out the great pictures.

Wheeler is putting the kitties outside, but he is having some guilt issues.

Chris Redford is addressing the “F” word. No, not that “F” word – he’s about to turn 40 and is not a happy camper.
As for Todd, well, he can kiss my grits!

Who woulda thought? North Louisiana has a blog for nudists.

North Louisiana Naturist was Organized in Feb. 2007 when new int(e)rest was found in Monroe Louisiana.
Mar. 12, 2007 the North Louisiana Naturist web site was born.
Naked: Not wearing clothes.
Nekkid: Not wearing clothes and you're up to something.
I checked out this blog and the folks just appear to just be naked. (No, there are no pictures.)
The blog is based in Bastrop, La., north of Monroe.
Since this blog is for all of you, I'll let you decide - should we link or not. Personally, I see no reason not to.
I'm putting a poll in the sidebar - please vote.

North Louisiana Blogs take note of Patrick Swayze's passing

Several North Louisiana Blogs have posted about Patrick Swayze, who passed away from cancer today.
And So It Goes in Shreveport posted Patrick Swayze: 1952 - 2009. My Bossier was to the point with Patrick Swayze dead of cancer.
The Opinionated Catholic showed a little more passion with Wolverines !!! Lets Take Back America For Patrick!!
Meanwhile, totally off the subject of Patrick Swayze and hoping that Baptists may have a sense of humor, The Norla Blog posted Local Church To Host Beer Festival.
I thought it was funny . . .

The Upside of Downs

Last month my friend Alena LaBorde started blogging. The Upside of Downs is already gaining readers, and will be successful because Alena is writing about the thing that is nearest and dearest to her heart, her daughter Riley.
When my daughter was born(almost 4 years ago) she was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. After the shock wore off, I immersed myself in finding all the information I could on Downs. Books and the Internet provided a lot of valuable, scientific, clinical, and medical information. There was however, a lack of real world info. To help fill this void, I am BLOGGING. This will be a light hearted, irreverent, and true account of raising a child who is beautiful, smart, funny, sassy, sweet, loving, kind, and who happens to have Down Syndrome. I hope that this blog will bring smiles and laughter and show UPSIDE of DOWNS!
I have had the privilege of knowing Riley from the time she was born and can attest that she truly is a remarkable little girl.
Alena and Gerard are bringing her up right, as you can see from the outfit in the picture!

Shreveport/Bossier offers a varied blogging scene

And So it Goes in Shreveport is written by Pat Austin, who describes herself as “Shreveport resident, English teacher, winner of 2002 Red River Writing Competition, and dog lover.
Pat’s blog deals mostly with politics from a conservative viewpoint.
As Seen In Shreveport is a fairly new blog and very entertaining.
Chicken Fried Gourmet. The title speaks for itself; gotta love it!
We’ll be back in a day or two with more.
If you have a blog that we have not listed, or if you know of a blog that we should list, please email a link to us and it shall be linked.
Happy blogging!
